Zonta Sports Awards Success

2015 has been one of the most successful sporting years in Middleton Grange School’s history, with pupils gaining success on the world stage and Middleton teams garnering national attention.

This success was evident at the annual Zonta Canterbury Seconday School Sports awards where Middleton Grange School won 3 of the major awards.

William Stedman won the Most Outstanding Athlete with a Disability for the second consecutive year for his performances in Athletics and Swimming, an achievement made even more impressive considering William is just Y10, meaning he has 3 more chances to win this award.

Olivia Podmore (Cycling) and Sam Timmins (Basketball) took home the Most Outstanding Female/Male Sportsperson Specialising in One Sport awards – the first time Middleton pupils have ever won either of these awards.

The Senior Boys’ Basketball team was a finalist in the Team of the Year category.

Olivia (Cycling), Sam (Basketball) and Satori Dobbie (Swimming) also claimed 3 of the minor awards for the most outstanding performer in each of their chosen sports.

Winning these awards is a well-deserved recognition of the efforts these pupils have put into their sport over the years. Be sure to track their future as they go on to bigger and better things in sport.
