We run two programmes.

  1. English Language of 4 hours per week. The pupils in this class will have average or higher level of English. This programme includes some English Language credits and some NCEA Level One English credits. These pupils will follow the usual Year 12 and 13 programmes to gain UE.
  2. Cambridge English of 4 hours per week. This class is for short term pupils (staying from one term to one year) who do not require NCEA credits for further study. These pupils would usually have a low level of English on entry.

Year 12
We run two programmes.

  1. English Language (ENA) of 5 hours per week. The pupils in this class will begin preparing for their NCEA Level 2 literacy standards and continue with these standards into Year 13 to obtain University Entrance by the end of Year 13.
  2. IELTS of 8 hours per week. The pupils in this class will have a very low level of English. They will have the opportunity to obtain an IELTS score high enough for entry to UCIC (5.5) (University of Canterbury International College) and universities outside of New Zealand. If these pupils achieve this by the end of Year 12.  They will have the opportunity in Year 13 to complete the standards required for NCEA Literacy for University Entrance. Therefore, they will begin working on two of these standards towards the second half of Year 12, in addition to studying IELTS.

Year 13
We will continue to offer the ENA programme of 6 hours per week. The pupils in this class do Level 2 literacy standards which can be used for University Entrance.
