Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whanau
I attended a Principal’s meeting this morning of Canterbury/WestCoast Schools, during which time we met with the Director of Education for Canterbury. We discussed a range of topics and issues around COVID-19 and how schools are responding to it and it would be fair to say most Canterbury schools are coping well but are obviously concerned about the uncertainty of how things will progress over the next few weeks/months.
To assist Middleton Grange School’s preparation for the likely possibility of closing in the future, we are going to ‘TRIAL’ Remote/’Online Learning for each of our Senior College Year levels next week. I do believe there is some urgency to do this sooner, rather than later. This trial will also allow us, as a school, to gather valuable information as to any problems/issues or gaps we have both in our school systems and with student use of devices.
Teachers will communicate with students regarding expectations for the day.
This means the following for next week:
- WEDNESDAY 25 March 2020
- All Year 13 Students rostered home for ‘Remote/Online Learning Trial’
- THURSDAY 26 March 2020
- All Year 12 Students rostered home for ‘Remote/Online Learning Trial’
- FRIDAY 27 March 2020
- All Year 11 Students rostered home for ‘Remote/Online Learning Trial’
All other classes
- Years 1-10 will operate as per normal at school.
