Senior Boys Basketball Complete Best Season Ever

The Senior Boys have completed Middleton Grange School’s most successful season ever – finishing the season with an amazing record of 35 wins and 2 losses.

They performed very well at the National Championships during the first week of the holidays, making the quarter final for the first time since 2001.

The quarter final was a fantastic game, which will be televised on Maori TV at some point in the coming weeks (coverage starts on October 24th and goes for a number of weeks). The boys were pipped at the end of the game by a very good Westlake Boys’ team (who finished 2nd) and the boys won the rest of their games to finish 5th in the nation. With Basketball now the most played high school sport in New Zealand, this is a very impressive result.

Head Boy Sam Lees was named in the tournament team for his exceptional play at the tournament, a very impressive and well deserved honour.

Season Highlights:

  • Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Thompson Trophy Champions (Undefeated)
  • South Island Secondary Schools’ Champions (Undefeated)
  • 5th Place – New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Championships (Highest finish in Middleton Grange History)
  • Season Record of 35 wins and 2 losses
