Head Delegate to the Model United Nations

Eva Maffey (Y13) has been awarded the prestigious title of Head Delegate, leading the New Zealand Delegation of 21 pupils to The Hague International Model United Nations! She will travel to The Hague, Netherlands at the end of the year, but first she must arrange sponsorship and/or raise the necessary funds.

Tonga on a Mission

Weekly Monday lunchtime meetings to pray, and practise songs, skits and games, all finally came to fruition on Tuesday 7th July, when 19 pupils and three staff left the chilly climate of Christchurch for the tropical temperatures of Tonga.  This mission trip had been a focus for the group for over 9 months.  

Tahiti – French Paradise

The trip to Tahiti at the beginning of the July school holidays went very well. Not only did the 12 pupils who went improve their French speaking skills through the Language School and their homestay families, but they also enjoyed swimming with stingrays in a lagoon off Moorea Island, learning how to make local food dishes,

NZACS Conference at MGS

While the holidays started early for pupils at the end of last term, 365 Christian School teachers from across New Zealand descended on Middleton Grange School for a two day Conference on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 July 2015. 

The theme of the Conference was ‘Setting the Learning Agenda’ and it asked the question ‘Who is setting the learning agenda?’  This is an important question for Christian Educators to consider,

Cycling on Gold

Y13 Pupil Olivia Podmore continues to add to her medal collection, picking up a handful at the ANZAC Cup in Brisbane in late May. Taking on the best U19 cyclists from Australia, Malaysia and China, Olivia took home Gold in the Keirin, Silver in the Sprints and Bronze in the Team Sprint.

THE Para Athlete to Watch

Y10 Pupil William Stedman is continuing his dominance of the Para Athletic scene with a string of outstanding performances in national and international competitions.

William recently returned from Cairns, Australia, where he competed in the Oceania Championships: he took home three Gold medals and a Silver, setting 3 New Zealand Records and qualifying for the IPC World Championships in the process.

ANZAC Field of Remembrance

There was utter silence as the Last Post was played during Middleton Grange’s opening of the ‘Field of Remembrance’ on Tuesday 21st April. Those of us who were invited to the special event were humbled by the stories we were told of New Zealand’s soldiers and were honoured by the presences of a platoon of servicemen who came to be a part of our Commemorative Ceremony.
