Technology

How we teach Technology is radically different to what you, as parents, may remember from your school days. It is no longer a place where things are just put together, but a place where pupils develop their creative abilities by using a design process alongside the development of competent skills and knowledge to actively participate in the modern technological world.  

The New Zealand Curriculum states Technology is: “The use of practical and intellectual resources to develop products and systems that expand human possibilities by addressing needs and realising opportunities.”

The change in Technology education means our school is focussed on improving our teaching and learning programmes to become innovative providers of Technology. Middleton Grange School’s Technology Curriculum Support Project with the Ministry of Education is to improve our Technology Curriculum understanding and practice. Along with this we are involved in a two year research project with Auckland University to track Technology Literacy development with our pupils as part of a nationwide study.
