The Rm 8 children studied Ancient Egypt. The children were fascinated by the embalming process and the reasons behind the procedure. King Tutankhamen was of particular interest because all the treasures from the burial site were found in tact can be studied.
The children sketched and carefully decorated their own King Tutankhamen masks.

In Room 8 we have also been writing some stories about what we like doing in Winter.........
I like winter because the weather is nice and chilly. I like it when it snows because my sister and I make snowmen in the garden. I think they look like big balls of icing sugar with decorations on them. The snow is fascinating to me because it is made from water. Annabelle S. Rm 8
In winter I like to sit by the fire. I sometimes get into my gloves and scarf and boots and go outside to look at the trees that make a network of branches and twigs like a spider web. After a while I go inside and watch the dancing flames in my fire.

In winter I love drinking tomato soup. It is warm and has got a lovely taste. I just wish New Zealand had more snow. It sparkles and gleams. It is fun to have snow ball fights and build snow men. I go back into the house. I have Milo and my tea. One of my favourite meals is cowboy casserole. I love it by the heater while I read.
